The Doubling-Down Effect: When exposed in an error, public figures increasingly opt to defend their falsehoods rather than face the perceived humiliation of an apology.

Embracing the concept of being incorrect requires a shift in mindset:

Normalize Intellectual Humility: We must celebrate individuals who publicly change their minds when presented with superior data.

Lower the Stakes for Exploration: Classrooms and workplaces should offer low-stakes environments where experimentation is rewarded, regardless of the output.
